EYB is a student-led organization that strives to provide free workshops, lesson plans, tutoring, and competitions in fields related to business, entrepreneurship, and economics to youth in the US. Everything is virtual to make things easier for our volunteers!

We are a student-run organization! Although we are not an officially registered nonprofit, we still function as one!

You will be able to share your love and passion for business with the world, in addition to strengthening your leadership skills. You will also be able to earn service hours, as we will verify them for you, but make sure to check your school's policy!

As long as you are a high school student (9-12) we would love to have you apply! Even though we are mainly providing our services to youth in the US, even if you are an international student and are not from the US, you are also free to apply!

You can either apply to be an entrepreneurship workshop mentor, a tutor/curriculum creator, or a member of the outreach team!

Those who are chosen to be an Entrepreneurship Workshop Mentor will be in charge of teaching and supervising students during workshop sessions. They will help students build up business plans and brainstorm ideas for businesses. They will guide them through workshop competitions that we hold. We will have our volunteers create an Acuity Scheduling account where students have the opportunity to book workshop sessions according to our mentors' schedules. They should have a strong knowledge of our Competition Guidelines and be able to comfortably answer any questions on certain topics taught, but we will help guide you through the process.

Those who are chosen to be a Curriculum Creator and Tutor will be in charge of developing business, economics, and entrepreneurship curriculums as well as lesson plans for different grade levels. You can choose a topic from the chart that we provide when you are accepted, or you can choose a topic you are passionate about. Using Canva, they should create fun, engaging, and easy-to-understand lecture slides for tutors to present. Tutors will use these lecture slides to teach K-8 students about various business concepts. They should be energetic and lively in order to create a welcoming atmosphere for the children. We will also have our tutors create an Acuity Scheduling account once they send in their curriculums, and students can choose slots from their schedules!

Those who are chosen to be an Outreach Team Member will be in charge of helping our CCO find public schools, churches, and refugee or children's organizations to contact. They will communicate with them to find out whether or not EYB could be introduced to the children at their organization. They will also help find more volunteer applicants for our program.

Competitions will be open to students grades 5-12 and will be held virtually. EYB will hold a variety of competitions, including constructing a business plan and pitching their idea to judges. Workshops will include small competitions to encourage friendly competition between students K-8. However, larger competitions with prize money (obtained through donations) to support the team's startup will only be open to older students. Larger competitions will also be more widely broadcasted outside of EYB and those who are not a student of our organization are encouraged to join as well. Volunteers may join as well. In workshop competitions, students will form teams of 2-3 or work individually to compete in a variety of small contests. In larger competitions, students will be given the opportunity to do both individual contests and group contests of numerous topics, such as business plan competitions, marketing plan competitions, stock competitions, and more. Volunteers are free to join these competitions!

Once accepted as a volunteer, we will provide much more detailed information about how tutoring works and how curriculums can be made.

Yes! If your school needs a letter or verification of hours, we would be glad to verify them or write the letter! We have a form that you can use to log hours, and we will trust that your hours are accurate, but if the claim is unusual, we will email you with questions/concerns. However, if your school only takes service hours completed with registered nonprofits, we will not be able to help you. However, while we are not registered, we are a student-led organization that functions as a nonprofit, meaning that we do not make profit, and all donations go back toward our mission and foundation. Many schools will still take hours from this type of organization, but please check your school's policy!
